Statistics for backgammon
The following table is taken from the Grand Rapids Backgammon
Club, and is probably a good example of how a club illustrates its
statistics, the win lose ratio points out the small differences between
first and fifth place.
From then it drops down peaking at 64% with Jorge Packard, whose stats
include only 14 matches with participation in only 4 events, clearly his
name should be at the top of the leader board but the number of games or
events he has played is considerably less than the leader Chris Havilland.
This proves the more games you take part in the more chances you have of a
higher ranking.
Given that these names on this board amount to 14 there are no women shown,
unless Chris Havilland and Pat Herp are of the female species, but I doubt
that.
In Grand Rapids it looks as if the male species is dominant, particularly in
the backgammon club.
If these statistics applied to the global audience of backgammon players it
would be a very stag orientated game, but we know that many champions come
from the fairer sex, thank God!
